About This AI Workshop for Healthcare Researchers
The 2026 GHUCCTS AI CoLab Summer Intensive is a 5-day, fully virtual, hands-on AI workshop designed for early-career healthcare researchers, graduate students, and health professionals who want to apply artificial intelligence and data science in real-world research settings. Hosted by the MedStar-Georgetown AI CoLab in partnership with the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS), this intensive workshop builds from biostatistical foundations through applied machine learning. Participants gain practical, job-ready skills in R, Python, REDCap, and AI-driven health data analysis across 40 structured instructional hours.
What You Will Learn
This AI healthcare research workshop covers 3 core competency areas:
- Biostatistics Foundations: Gain foundational knowledge in biostatistics and applied data science tools and understand study design, distributions, hypothesis testing, and how to communicate results clearly.
- Applied AI & Data Science in Healthcare: Experience AI, biostatistics, and data science hands-on with R and Python for healthcare applications, data visualization, and basic machine learning. Analyze real-world healthcare data.
- Research Technology Fluency: Learn widely used tools such as R, Python, REDCap, and other platforms that accelerate research productivity and enable collaboration across clinical, academic, and public health teams.
