Explore how social, economic, and environmental factors shape health outcomes
Artificial Intelligence & Community Health Summit is a gathering designed to explore the various nonmedical factors that influence health outcomes and healthcare access. The summit brings together health professionals, policymakers, researchers, community leaders, and stakeholders from multiple sectors to address challenges impacting public health.
In this Summit you will:
- Acquire knowledge of a wide variety of data including data on health-related nonmedical factors, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other public health data
- Discuss and explore solutions that prioritize nonmedical factors that impact health and develop actionable strategies to improve healthcare for all
- Network and identify future collaborators in AI and Healthcare Research and Education

Samiul Amin, PhD

Samiul Amin is a Professor of Practice in the Department of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering at the University of Miami and Director of the Engineering Corporate Affiliates Program (E-CAP) for the College of Engineering. In January 2024, he co-founded Fastformulator Inc., a company leveraging AI and machine learning to accelerate R&D of formulated products. Before joining the University of Miami, he was an Associate Professor at Manhattan College, where he developed and led the Cosmetic and Biopharmaceutical Engineering concentration. With over 23 years of experience across industry and academia, Prof. Amin has held roles in engineering, R&D, innovation management, and M&A at global companies including ExxonMobil, Unilever, L’Oréal, and Malvern Instruments across Asia, Europe, and the US. His technical expertise includes formulation design for cosmetic, personal care, homecare, and biopharmaceutical products; colloids and complex fluids; rheology; tribology; and advanced material characterization. His current research focuses on smart gels and hydrogels, and performance optimization of consumer products using sustainable materials like biosurfactants, biopolymers, and stimuli-responsive polymers. His group also studies protein stability and rheology in high-concentration biotherapeutic formulations, in collaboration with leading global companies. Prof. Amin teaches industrial courses for the Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) and American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) and offers academic courses in innovation, technology, and design thinking. He has served on committees for organizations such as SCC, RSC, and SCI, chaired numerous international conferences, and currently serves as Section Editor for Current Opinion in Colloid and Interface Science and Associate Editor for Surfactants and Detergents. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University, an MS from Johns Hopkins University, and a BS from Rutgers University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Fribourg In Switzerland.
Malaika Simmons, MSHE

Malaika Simmons, MSHE, is the Chief Operating Officer for the National Accelerator for Discovery in Precision Health (NADPH), a data-driven, nonprofit health research organization. She uses her background in research, psychology, and design thinking to promote empathy-based leadership with over 20 years of experience in corporate policy, training, and program management, operating at the convergence of health research, IT, and consumer issues. Malaika leads qualitative research across multiple initiatives focused on elevating patient and community voices in health and technology innovation. Her leadership is grounded in empathy-based principles and a deep commitment to addressing health disparities in underserved populations. In addition to her work at NADPH, Malaika is the founder of Momentology Media, where she developed the proprietary Momentology Method™; a transformative framework that empowers women to launch businesses, advocate for health equity, and lead in corporate and political arenas. Through this work, she channels her passion for dismantling economic and health disparities, helping underrepresented communities drive change from within.
Eman El-Sheikh, PhD

Dr. Eman El-Sheikh is an internationally recognized leader with over 30 years of experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity. She currently serves as Associate Vice President and Professor at the University of West Florida’s Center for Cybersecurity. In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. El-Sheikh is the Chief Strategic Alliance Officer and USA Ambassador for the Global Council for Responsible AI. Dr. El-Sheikh has secured more than $26 million in competitive grant funding and has been honored with numerous accolades, including the 2024 GISEC Global Educator of the Year award, a finalist for the 2024 Cybersecurity Woman of the World, induction into UWF’s Million Dollar Research Hall of Fame, and recognition among the 2020 Women Leaders in Cybersecurity by Security Magazine. She leads several national initiatives focused on cybersecurity education and workforce development, including the CyberSkills2Work® program, part of the National Cybersecurity Workforce Development effort. She also launched the award-winning Cybersecurity for All® program, which advances technical competencies and hands-on skills for today’s evolving cybersecurity roles. Dr. El-Sheikh has authored multiple books, published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, and delivered more than 150 keynote and invited talks. She played a key role on the leadership team of the NSF/NSA Cyber-AI Project, helping develop AI-Cyber and Secure AI curricula adopted by universities across the U.S. Her research and teaching focus on the application of AI and machine learning in cybersecurity. She is the founder of the Florida Women in Cybersecurity Affiliate and serves on its Advisory Board. Dr. El-Sheikh holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from Michigan State University.
Kolaleh Eskandanian, PhD, MBA

Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer, Compremium AG
Dr. Kolaleh Eskandanian is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer and Head of Pediatrics and Special Populations at Compremium AG, a Swiss-based medtech company developing non-invasive, AI-powered diagnostic platforms. In this role, she leads global strategy and innovation efforts focused on advancing real-world, regulated technologies—particularly those serving pediatric and underserved populations. Prior to joining Compremium, Dr. Eskandanian served as Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer at Children’s National Hospital, where she founded and led Innovation Ventures and served as Executive Director of the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. She was also the Principal Investigator for two landmark national initiatives: the FDA-funded Alliance for Pediatric Device Innovation and the BARDA-funded SPARK Hub, the nation’s only pediatric-focused accelerator for public health emergencies. A recognized leader in health innovation, she has advanced over 400 pediatric technologies, helping secure 25 regulatory authorizations and eight successful exits. She also played a key role in bringing JLABS @ Washington, DC and BLUE KNIGHT™ to the Children’s National Research & Innovation Campus. Dr. Eskandanian holds a BS/MS in mechanical engineering, a PhD in operations science and an MBA, and brings a unique blend of technical depth and strategic vision to healthtech and medtech innovation and commercialization.
Abdul Shaikh, PhD

Dr. Abdul Shaikh is the Global Leader for Population Health at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he leads the go-to-market strategy for applying advanced technologies; including generative AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and remote patient monitoring; to improve clinical and public health outcomes. His work focuses on helping healthcare systems adopt cloud-based solutions that enable more efficient, equitable, and person-centered care. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Shaikh has worked across sectors to help healthcare providers, payors, researchers, governments, and nonprofits harness data for better health outcomes. Prior to joining AWS, he served as Population Health Leader at PwC and Guidehouse, where he led large-scale strategy and transformation efforts focused on digital health and population health management. Earlier in his career, Dr. Shaikh was a Program Officer at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he supported research in digital health, behavior change, and cancer prevention. He also contributed to national health IT initiatives during his time at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), helping shape federal efforts to modernize health data infrastructure. Dr. Shaikh is an active contributor to national efforts in digital health and health equity. He serves on several nonprofit boards and advisories and is a member of the HIMSS Social Determinants of Health Task Force and the National Academy of Medicine’s Digital Health Action Collaborative. His work has been featured in Becker’s Hospital Review, Wired, and The Wall Street Journal, and he is a regular speaker on AI, cloud computing, and the future of healthcare. He holds graduate degrees in public health and health services research from the University of Toronto and the University of Michigan, and completed his postdoctoral training at NIH as a Cancer Prevention Fellow.
Jehan El-Bayoumi, MD

Dr. Jehan El-Bayoumi, MD, FACP, is a distinguished physician, educator, and advocate dedicated to advancing health equity and medical education. She is the founding director of the Rodham Institute, established in 2013 to address health disparities in Washington, D.C., particularly in underserved communities. The institute focuses on youth educational programming, health workforce development, training healthcare teams in applied health equity, and fostering community collaborations and partnerships. Dr. El-Bayoumi earned both her Bachelor of Science and Medical Degrees from the University of Michigan. She completed her residency and chief residency in Internal Medicine at George Washington University (GW), where she subsequently served as a faculty member in the Division of General Internal Medicine. During her tenure at GW, she was the Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency for 15 years and played a pivotal role in medical education. In addition to her academic roles, Dr. El-Bayoumi is actively involved in clinical practice. She is affiliated with MedStar Health and George Washington University Hospital, providing compassionate care with a focus on holistic treatment and addressing social determinants of health. Dr. El-Bayoumi’s commitment to community health is further exemplified by her involvement with the Black Coalition Against COVID, where she serves as a board member. This national organization was established to address the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Black communities. Her contributions to medicine and community health have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Ralph Johns Civil Rights Award from the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) for her advocacy in healthcare access for historically underserved communities. Dr. El-Bayoumi continues to be a leading voice in promoting health equity, medical education, and community engagement, striving to create a more just and inclusive healthcare system.
